Antique PAIR of BARNETT FLINTLOCK Belt Pistols
CASED Pair Manufactured Circa 1810
Here we present an antique matched pair of Flintlock Pistols by Barnett of London, England, circa 1810. The lock plates of these pistols are marked “BARNETT” and also have sliding safeties. The barrels are marked “MINORIES-LONDON”. Minories is a parish and street in London. Barnett was as well or better known for their trade guns made for Native Americans as they were for fine pieces like these in Europe. These pistols are a matched pair and feature a lovely case. The locks and trigger guards are nicely engraved. The vents are lined in platinum. These pistols would have been used as offensive and defensive weapons as well as dueling pistols during a time when one defended his honor, even violently.
The overall condition of this set is very good. The steel surfaces are smooth and fine. There is a repair on the hammer of the top pistol in the case. The markings clear. The stocks are in nice shape, showing use but remaining very handsome. The bores are smooth and clean. The actions are excellent. Here is a great piece of history and a real conversation starter.
