Product Description

Antique WINCHESTER Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle

.40-65 WCF Made in 1889

Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle, made in 1889 in New Haven, Connecticut. The 1886 was a collaboration between John Moses Browning and his brother, Matthew Sandifer Browning, to build a big game rifle to replace the Model 1876. This was Browning’s first repeating rifle design adopted by Winchester, and the design even gained the endorsement of Theodore Roosevelt, formerly a staunch proselyte of the 1876.

This rifle features a 26 inch fully octagonal barrel chambered for .40-65 WCF. The top of the barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.” The breech is marked “.40-65 W.C.F.”. The tang is marked “MODEL 1886”.

The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have an even gray-brown patina. Faint case colors on the hammer. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is in great shape. The bore is very good, clean with good rifling. The action on this rifle is excellent. Here is a big bore Winchester 1886 in great shape!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 26 inches.

Caliber: .40-65 WCF

Overall condition as seen in photos.
