Belgian Made Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun!
Here we present a Bayard Arms Company, manufactured by Henri Pieper, Double Barrel Side by Side Shotgun, made at the turn of the 20th Century in Belgium. Bayard was the name of legendary bay horse of Charlemagne and was used by the Pieper company as a trademark. Henri Pieper was a German born gunmaker in Belgium. He began in Liege in 1866 under the business name “Anciens Etablissements Pieper”. The rapid growth of his early business was party due to an excellent decision to purchase a barrel factory in Nessonvaux. Some of Remington’s finest double shotguns of the time have the maker’s mark of “HP” on them from this factory.
The overall condition is very good. The iron parts have a gray patina. The markings are clear. The walnut stock is in good shape. The bores are in very good condition. The actions are excellent.
