BRITISH Antique SCOTT of LONDON Pepperbox Revolver
Finely Engraved, Large .42 Caliber Pepperbox
Here we present an antique Scott of London Double Action Pepperbox Pistol, made in London, England circa the mid-19th Century. Pepperbox Revolvers were an improvement over single shot percussion pistols of the day. The pepperbox was the precursor to the revolver as we know it today. Instead of having a single barrel with a revolving cylinder that presented each individual chamber to the breech end of the barrel, the pepperbox’s cylinder included a barrel for each chamber!
This one features a large frame and barrel cluster boasting 6 shots of .42 caliber ball. The left of the frame is marked “SCOTT/LONDON”. The frame, hammer, trigger guard, and pommel cap feature fine engraving. The pommel also contains a percussion cap trap. There is a silver initial placard on the back of the checkered wooden grip.
The overall condition is very good. Traces of blue finish remains with a plum patina throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in great shape. The bores are smooth and in good shape. The action on this pepperbox is excellent.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
