CTRG CONVERTED Antique REMINGTON New Model NAVY
Remington New Model Navy Revolver in .38 Rimfire
Here we present an antique Remington New Model Navy Cartridge Conversion Revolver, made circa 1870 in Ilion, New York. About 28,000 New Model Navies were made, some of them leaving the Remington factory in this configuration. This revolver has been converted from percussion to utilize .38 Rimfire cartridges, making these very desirable in the budding metallic cartridge revolver market. Smith & Wesson’s infamous Rollin White Patent was just expiring. The US Navy even experimented with a small contract of these revolvers in this configuration, with a loading gate and ejector rod built in.
The top of the octagonal barrel is marked “PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858. MARCH 17. 1863/E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION.NEWYORK. US/NEW MODEL”.
The overall condition is fine. The original nickel finish is 70%. The markings are clear. The serial numbers match. The walnut grips are original and matching, with the left panel being repaired. The bore is in very good condition with good rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a very scarce and desirable factory cartridge conversion of Remington’s New Model!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 7-1/2 inches.
Caliber: .36 Rimfire
Overall condition as seen in photos.
