1947 Field Grade Double Barrel Shotgun
Here we present an L.C. Smith Field Grade 12 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun, manufactured circa 1947. The production for the Field Grade shotgun began in 1912. According to the 1913 catalog: “This gun is especially designed for those requiring a cheap, sound and plainly finished weapon. It is particularly useful for field and marsh where rough usage is required.”
Both locks are marked “L.C. SMITH”. The top of the left tube is marked “L.C. SMITH FIELD GRADE”. Length of pull is 14-1/8 from front trigger to rear of the butt pad. Chokes are modified and full.
The overall condition is very good. Strong traces of original blue remain on the tubes especially close to the ribs. An even gray patina makes up the balance. Case colors are silvered. The markings are clear and legible. Numbers match. The stock is in great shape. The bores are smooth, clear and bright. The action on this shotgun in excellent.
