L.C. SMITH Field Grade Double Barrel SIDE by SIDE Hammerless SHOTGUN C&R
1926 Field Grade Sporting/Hunting Shotgun
Here we present an L.C. Smith Field Grade 12 Gauge Double Barrel Hammerless Shotgun, manufactured circa 1926. The production for the Field Grade shotgun began in 1912. According to the 1913 catalog: “This gun is especially designed for those requiring a cheap, sound and plainly finished weapon. It is particularly useful for field and marsh where rough usage is required.” Though this is Field Grade, the shooting powers of this gun can be relied upon to be fully equal to those of the higher grades.
The overall condition is very good+. The action is excellent. The bores are shiny bright and smooth. “LC SMITH” is clearly read on both locks. Chip at the toe of the butt plate. Nice walnut stock. What this old gal lacks for engraving and fancy Damascus barrels of higher grades guns is made up in the case colors and blue finish.
