LONDON MARKED .56 Caliber BELT Pistol Pirate Military PERCUSSION British
English Flintlock to Percussion Conversion Pistol Made Pre-1813!
Here we present an antique Brass Barreled Belt Pistol, made circa the late 1700s to early 1800s in London, England. This pistol would have started out life as a flintlock and converted sometime after the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced. This pistol features a large .56 caliber “manstopping” bore that would have been worn on the belt or holstered as it was possibly carried into battle. This is a neat old pistol and one can easily imagine the sight of its gaping bore would certainly be a deterrent to would be scoundrels.
The overall condition is good. The action functions properly. “LONDON” is engraved atop the barrel. The barrel has pre-1813 Birmingham proofs on the left side. The bore is smooth and dark. The stock is solid and in good condition. This example of a percussion conversion pistol would do just fine on display in a collection!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 8 inches.
Overall condition as seen in photos.
