SCARCE Pre-WWI German 1908 Luger Pistol 9MM Luger
Here we present a Pre-World War I DWM 1908 Luger Pistol, made in Berlin, Germany . Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars.
This Luger Pistol was made for commercial & civilian sales in the years leading to the Great War. About 10,000 of this variant were produced. This one was made without a stock lug or magazine hold-open. It also falls numerically in the correct range. Commercial “Crown/N” proof marks found throughout. A small discreet import mark is located on the right side of the frame on the beveled edge just above the trigger. This pistol is in great shape.
The overall condition is very fine. The original blue finish is about 90%. The straw colors are very strong. The markings are clear. The serial numbers match. The bore is in great shape with strong rifling. The grips are near fine. The action is excellent. Here is a very nice, pre-WWI Luger Pistol for your collecting and shooting pleasure!
