WINCHESTER Model 1894 Lever Action .30-30 RIFLE
Chambered in .30 WCF & Made in 1902
Here we present a Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, made in 1902 in New Haven, Connecticut. The credit for the design of such a prolific firearm again lies with John Moses Browning, who lent his extensive design talents to a large number of weapon types throughout his career. The Model 1894 was the first Winchester rifle made for use with the new technology of smokeless powder and was developed as a hunting rifle. Over 7.5 million were produced from 1894 until 2006. While various cartridges were supported throughout the run of the gun, the .30-30 Winchester became its staple. In practical use, the Model 1894 became a favorite for general shooters and hunters alike. To this day, it remains a deer hunting favorite, and, in all likelihood, more deer have been taken with the 1894 than any other.
This Model 1894 sports a 26-inch round barrel chambered for .30-30. The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA/WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL/WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK/MODEL 94—30 W.C.F.—“. The tang is marked “MODEL 1894/WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK”. Front and rear sights are Marbles. All metal surfaces have been refinished with care to preserve the markings.
The overall condition is near fine. The metal surfaces have been refinished and blue finish is nearly complete. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is in great shape. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The action on this rifle is excellent. Here is a 116 year old rifle that still has a lot of life left ahead of it!
